János Kádár was arguably one of the most important political figures of the 20th century. In her will, his wife, Mária Tamáska, ordered the establishment of a permanent exhibition in the Kádár house. She seems to have had enough sense of reality left in her to have anticipated the failure of her request. In this case, she ordered the organisation of a charity auction of their objects. The auction took place on 20-21 March 1993, with surprising success. Some three decades have passed since then, and the piece is now a unique, historical relic.
