91. (Gyömrői) Rényi Edit: ~ versei

Bp., 1919. Benkő Gyula (Krausz J. és Társa ny.) 41+(2)p.

The author of this exceptionally rare work was employed at the People's Commissariat for Public Education during the Red Terror regime and later took an active role in the communist movements of various countries while in emigration. However, he is remembered in the history of Hungarian literature due to his professional activities. In 1935–36, he treated Attila József as a psychiatrist. The poet had tender feelings for his treating physician, who also inspired one of his most beautiful poems, "Nagyon fáj". As she did not return his love, their relationship ultimately deteriorated, culminating in an incident, in which the poet attacked her with a knife (he was disarmed by journalist László Újvári, who was the author's fiancé).

Slightly damaged, original paper.
