83. Milán Füst (1888-1967), writer. Signed, typed autobiography.
The text was written for the university and contains the writer's own corrections and signature: "Dr. Milán Füst, Kossuth Prize-winning writer, university lecturer, acting lecturer."
Milán Füst's only known autobiography was first published by Magyar Műhely in Paris in its 1967/23-24 issue. He wrote it for ELTE, where he began his legendary Shakespeare lectures at the Faculty of Humanities in 1951. The autobiography, a copy of which we have, corrected and signed by the writer, is, regardless of its purpose, genuine Milán Füst prose, written in the great writer's characteristic style and with his characteristic turns of phrase, even if he had to assert his left-wing commitment here and there – after all, this was 1951!
