75. Autograph letter of Endre Ady (1877-1919), poet to "Ada".
After a prolonged illness, Endre Ady stayed at the Városmajor Sanatorium from February 1912. His relationship with Léda deteriorated, their meetings were increasingly tense, and Ady longed for harmony. He met Valéria Csutak (Józsefné Bisztriczky) at the sanatorium and they spent hours in calm conversations. Ady fell in love and named her Ada.
His love for her inspires four poems.
Ada left the sanatorium in April to return home (to Arad), and then began their correspondence. 4 surviving letters from Ada and 7 from Ady are known.
The present letter mainly expresses the feeling of unrequited love, but the poet also mentions his creative difficulties and a self-portrait he sent. It was probably created between April 18 and 21, 1912.
