... by ~ with decorations by Ernest H. Shepard
London, 1928. Methuen & Co. Ltd. XI+178p. Limited (250/350), first edition, printed on handmade paper, signed by the author and illustrator.
The first edition of one of the most popular children's novels in world literature. The English author wrote several novels and plays, but it was undoubtedly the character of Winnie-the-Pooh that brought him worldwide fame, becoming perhaps the most famous fairy-tale hero in world literature. The main characters in the novels about him were modelled on his son and his toy bear. The story actually consisted of four parts: the first (When We Were Very Young) in 1924, the second (Winnie-the-Pooh) in 1926, the third (Now We Are Six) in 1927, and the last in our volume, which was published in Hungarian under the title Micimackó kuckója (Winnie-the-Pooh's Den). All were published in uniform format and binding.
Original half cloth with slightly damaged dust jacket.
