In 1802, during Kazinczy’s imprisonment at Kufstein, Benedek Virág sent him the manuscript poems of their deceased friend Gábor Dayka. Kazinczy subsequently collected additional pieces through advertisements in the Magyar Kurir and private correspondence. A particular feature of the volume is that, besides the nearly fifty-page preface, the portrait of Dayka on the frontispiece was also designed by Kazinczy himself.
