The work of the Luxembourg-born Jesuit author was published in 1673. This heroic novel, which describes the life of Godfrey of Bouillon, commander-in-chief of the Crusader army that captured Jerusalem, has been published in numerous editions. With the example of the hero fighting against the infidels, it sought to encourage European cooperation against the Turks. It was published twice in Latin in Hungary (1743 and 1746), and this being the only Hungarian-language edition.
