42. Sándor Weöres (1913-1989) poet.
Autograph manuscript of the poem "November, falun" ("November, in the Village").
Fair copy. He first recorded the poem in a letter to László Székely, his former teacher at the self-education circle in Szombathely, with whom he maintained correspondence. The final title of the work became “Csönge, November 1932”, which was later published in his 1934 collection Hideg van (It’s Cold). Interestingly, he also refers to it in his doctoral dissertation Vers születése (The Birth of a Poem): “Among my poems, for example, ‘Csönge, November 1932’ and ‘Short Song’ were composed from a mosaic of momentary moods: the subject, form, and mode of expression ‘just came’; I didn’t even have a precise idea of what I was actually writing.”
