Described by Sándor Bálint as “the most widely read popular devotional book” among Hungarian Catholics, the work appeared in twenty-five editions between 1712 and 1913. Judit Újfalusi, a Poor Clare nun living within the convent walls of Nagyszombat, based her life of Christ on the Czech version of Martin von Cochem’s influential Das grosse Leben Christi.
