The poem, published as a leaflet, likely appeared in the spring of 1848, after parliament approved the abolition of the feudal system. Its author remains unknown. It is also included in the third volume of „Népdalok és mondák,” edited by János Erdélyi, published in the same year, with the following text in parentheses: „Marczius 20-dikán, midőn Pest megye gyülésén a szabad föld kihirdettetett.”
