The biography of one of the greatest Catholic missionaries of all time, St Francis Xavier (1506–1552), was originally written in 1596 by the Italian historian Orazio Torsellino (Latinised: Horatius Tursellinus). The Hungarian translator, Mózes Lestyán, was a Jesuit priest who later served as parish priest.
