Sasvár in Nyitra County was one of the best-known pilgrimage sites in Hungary and the Habsburg Monarchy, visited annually by more than 100,000 pilgrims, often arriving from distant regions. The present work, describing miracles and answered prayers associated with the Pauline shrine during the 1740s, belongs to the genre of Baroque miracle books. It was originally published in Latin in 1746 under the title Novum sidus Hungariae… Its author was a Pauline monk who also served as prior general of the Hungarian province. The Hungarian translation was prepared by his fellow monk, the historian Ferenc Orosz. The work also appeared in German and Slovak editions.
Restored, contemporary half leather. With some wormholes (not affecting the text).
