Inscribed by the author: „Dr. Kardeván Károly bátyámnak, volt tanáromnak, aki az ízlés cipőjében járni tanított, tisztelettel és hálával Weöres Sándor 1934. III. 23.” (To my brother, Dr. Károly Kardeván, my former teacher, who taught me to walk in the shoes of taste, with respect and gratitude, Sándor Weöres, March 23, 1934). The recipient was the poet’s literature teacher at the Faludi Ferenc Realgymnasium in Szombathely.
