Although the title is in Latin, this notated hymnal consists mainly of Hungarian songs. The author came from a Lutheran family but was raised by his Catholic relatives, at which time he converted to Catholicism. He was ordained a priest in 1668, became a canon in Esztergom in 1690, and later served as archdeacon in Zólyom. His songbook contains about 150 songs in Hungarian and Latin, some of which he took from earlier collections and reworked, some of which he translated from Latin, and some of which he wrote himself. Although several copies are preserved in our libraries, it has only appeared at auction once in the last sixty years.
Restored, contemporary leather with modern clasps.
