The German original (Selam oder die Sprache der Blumen) was the work of Johann David Symanski, first published in 1821 in much larger format. The volume closes with a “Supplement” containing poems by famous poets. Tudománytár reported on a Pest edition of 1834, while Heckenast’s 1837 price list mentions this issue. The anonymous translator-author is referred to only by the initials “Kl. K. W.” at the end of the preface.
