The prolific ecclesiastical writer and Benedictine monk Sámuel Vajda, abbot of Tihany from 1760. In his magnum opus, he presented his readers with the life, teachings and sufferings of Jesus, combining the four Gospels into one, with detailed explanations accompanying each chapter. Of the 33 full-page engravings related to the individual chapters, 11 are signed with the mark "Assner f.". Among the members of the Assner family of copper engravers, Ferenc and Lipót were working in Pozsony at the time of the book's publication.
At the end of the first volume, there is a 9-page "Kettős mutató tábla" (Double Index) written in contemporary handwriting.
