The great national epic depicting the conquest of Hungary is emblematic of the reform era and the beginning of Hungarian romanticism. After several similar initiatives (Csokonai, Pálóczi Horváth), the work was written by the beginning of 1825, and in September, it was published in print. The picture on the title page was drawn by Károly Kisfaludy. Although only 80 people responded to the call for subscriptions (40 of them were from the author's circle of friends), the literary public was almost unanimously enthusiastic, bringing the author nationwide recognition.
