Launched in 1670, this natural science journal is the oldest periodical of its kind still in publication today, albeit under several different names. This volume contains three significant studies related to Hungary. One is a treatise entitled De Draconibus Carpathicis by János Paterson Hain, a Prussian-born physician practising in Eperjes, in which he writes about the dragons that lived in the area, based on the bones of cave bears found in Sáros County. This is illustrated by a fold-out copperplate engraving. The other is a report on the story of Márk Baksay, taken from Martin Schödel's work "Disquisitio historico-politica". According to legend, the Hungarian captain fighting against the Turks continued to fight the enemy for a long time after being stabbed in the head by the Turks. The image above the text shows Baksay with his eyes pierced. The third is Simon Schultz's two-part medical article entitled "De morbo Hungarico". We have no information about the completeness of the engravings, but there are traces of a few missing pages in the volume.

Restored, contemporary leather.
