The main work of the Neapolitan naturalist, which he wrote when he was 15 years old. It was first published in 1558, although only the first four books then. The complete text was published in 1589. In the work dealing with astrology, metaphysical questions, optics and alchemy, a description of the camera obscura can also be read.

Poss.: According the Inscription "est Samuelis Pataki mortui christo tum in vita tum in morte Salus", it was owned by the 19th-century, Transylvanian doctor, Sámuel Pataki.
