The most significant historical work of Olaus Magnus with a scarce and important early woodcut map of Scandinavia, which is cartographically based on the cartographer’s previous 9-sheet regional map issued in Venice in 1539. Olaus Magnus applied the results of his own research during his journey across Sweden between 1518 and 1519. The woodblocks were prepared by the Swiss Thomas Weber, whose initials can be found in the lower right corner of the sheet.
