170. (Táncsics) Stancsics Mihál(y): Hunnia’ függetlensége
Jena, 1847. G. Schreiber. XLI+302p. First edition.
In his two pamphlets (published in the previous year in Népkönyv and in this work), Táncsics expresses views that are more radical than those of the reform opposition, calling for a radical transformation of society and complete separation from Austria. The authorities initiated proceedings against him, so he went into hiding on Count Kázmér Batthyány's estate in Slavonia, in Brodon. He was captured in March 1847 and subsequently convicted. On 15 March 1848, the citizens of Pest freed him from the Buda Castle prison.
20th-century leather. Spine richly gilt.
