Gábor Hevenesi, Jesuit church historian and cartographer, taught at the University of Nagyszombat and from 1711 was head of the Austrian Jesuit province, which included the Hungarian houses. In this bilingual work on Hungarian saints, he sought to promote the study of Hungary’s Christian past. Károly Szabó erroneously attributed Régi Magyar Szentség to István Tarnóczi; RMK records four copies. To our knowledge, it has never appeared at auction.
Restored, contemporary leather. Spine gilt, slightly worn.
