Interesting documents on the history of the construction of the Chain Bridge. Engineer Antal Balla came up with the idea of building a permanent bridge between Pest and Buda, which was also supported by Joseph II (1784). In 1819, József Campmiller submitted a proposal to the city of Pest, presenting his plans for a permanent bridge, and in 1825, József Szvoboda proposed the construction of a suspension bridge. In 1828, Count Móric Sándor had plans drawn up in England for a chain bridge to be built and its costs calculated. In 1832, the Bridge Association was formed, which submitted a petition to Pest County requesting support for the project. In 1833, Széchenyi and Count György Andrássy published their "Bridge Report", in which they reported on their study trip to England. In the same year, the representative of Pest County proposed the establishment of a national committee, which was approved by the representatives. The first part also includes Count István Széchenyi's statement, issued on 15 November 1835, which is about two and a half pages long.
