160. Márton Lendvay (1807–1858), actor.
Autograph letter to Dr. Pál Kovács, addressed "Édes barátom!" (My Dear Friend!).
At the beginning he recalls the grievance suffered during his last performance in Győr. Financial terms were not clarified in advance, which he took as a humiliation. He emphasises that he shares this only with his old friend, as with him everything was settled fairly after the performance. Once again he thanks him for his hospitality, then writes at length about the miserable financial situation of actors in general and himself in particular. He mentions several names, including Róza Laborfalvy and Lajos Fáncsy. Dr. Pál Kovács, in addition to being a physician and writer, was a patron of theatre in Győr. In 1840 he participated in the founding of the „Magyar Színészetet Biztosító Társaság” (Society for the Support of Hungarian Theater) created to provide financial backing for local drama.
