The first horse race in Hungary was held in 1827. During the following years the developing Hungarian horse racing attracted several dismissive foreign critiques. This work was written in response to such attacks, particularly to the remarks made by the Duke of Marmont in his “Reise durch Ungarn, Siebenbürgen”.
