The year 1595 was important in the history of the Fifteen Years' War. Zsigmond Báthory, who was fighting against the Turks, formed an alliance with Rudolf I and sent an embassy to the Polish court. Our volume contains the text of the speech delivered by the princely delegation led by Demeter Naprágyi before King Sigismund III (Vasa) of Poland and the estates in the Sejm. The first edition was published in the same year in Kolozsvár, and Polish and Czech translations also appeared. To our knowledge, six copies are preserved in Hungarian public collections, and we have found no trace of it appearing at auction.
