150. (Meyer, Bernhard): Rückblick...
... auf die jüngste Entwicklungs-Periode Ungarns
Wien, [1903.] 1857. (Szelinski György.) (2)+78p. Limited (37./500) edition.
Third edition. The work was written by the author at the request of the Austrian Minister of the Interior, Alexander Bach. In it, he discusses what the Hungarians owe to the Austrian government and that development is largely the result of Austrian measures. He mentions the name of István Széchenyi only in connection with the Tisza regulation. The book was not intended for the public, and it only reached a narrow circle of initiates. The police confiscated the copies made in the state printing house, and the Minister of the Interior wanted to promote the work. Széchenyi wrote his "Ein Blick" to refute this. Its first edition was numbered 25, and the second was published in 200 copies (Széchenyi also used this when writing "Ein Blick"). In contrast to the data on the back of the title page, the third was not published in 500, but only 250+25 copies.
Modern half leather. Original cover bound inside.
