14. Dugonics András: A’ magyaroknak uradalmaik...
... mind a’ régi, mind a’ mostani üdőkben
Pesten és Pozsonyban, 1801. Füskúti Landerer Mihály. 1pl(s).+180p.+13pl(s). (copper engravings) First edition.
At this time Dugonics turned from belles-lettres toward Hungarian history. In these works he sought to demonstrate the greatness of the Hungarian nation through its glorious past, chiefly to inspire patriotic self-awareness in youth. Alongside Szittyai történetek and Arany pereczek, this book belongs to the same line of national-historical works. It describes the provinces and principalities historically connected to the Hungarian Kingdom (Transylvania, Rama, Bulgaria, Wallachia, Lodomeria, etc.), with their coats of arms depicted on the plates. One of the author’s rarest works.
