The author started publishing the most important Hungarian historical sources simultaneously with his most significant work, the Notitia. This opus – planned for three “decas” – was ultimately left unfinished as in the meantime, one of his students, Johann Georg Schwandtner, compiled a monumental, three-volume collection on the same topic, to the publication of which Bél also contributed.
