First Hungarian translation of Calvin's fundamental work, "Christianae religionis institutio" (Basel, 1536), an essential summary document containing his theological teachings. During the author's life 1, after his death, in the XVI. in the century, another 10, in the XVII. and in the 19th century, another 15 Latin editions were published. It was translated into several languages, but the Hungarian translation was created relatively late as one of the most significant works of Albert Szenczi Molnár. His work was supported by the Transylvanian Prince Gábor Bethlen, György Rákóczy, Frigyes V, Móric, Provincial Count of Hesse, as well as the citizens of Nagyszombat and Sárospatak. The main virtue of the translation is that the XVI. using the virtues and tradition of Hungarian-language theological literature of the 19th century, it represents the highest quality Hungarian-language theological prose.
