On 5 August 1532, the mighty army of Sultan Suleiman I began the siege of the small castle of Kőszeg, which Captain Miklós Jurisich heroically defended for twenty-five days against an enemy force almost one hundred times larger than his own. The author of the first independent printed account of the siege, based on contemporary sources, was an Augustinian monk from Léka.
