The author was a Dominican monk and humanist historian. His work is an excerpt from Thuróczy's chronicle, to which Ransanus added two chapters on geographical topics at the beginning. The work was first printed in Vienna in 1558 under the editorship of János Zsámboky, and its first Hungarian edition was published in 1579.
