A bilingual Hungarian–Hebrew work, the first Torah edition printed in Hungary. Its translator and editor, linguist and theologian Móric Bloch, was the first Hungarian Jewish academic (a status earned largely through this work). In 1843 he converted to Lutheranism (later to Calvinism) and took the name Ballagi.
