The author was a physician and botanist, although some sources refer to him as a steward. This guidebook for rural farmers contains information on animal husbandry and agriculture, as well as household practices and medical advice. Published in 1798, his book on trees and herbs, which lists more than 500 plants, is an important source for domestic flora research.
