He thanks him for his lines of condolence - sent on the occasion of the death of the recipient's wife, Márta Borbíró. Sharing his pain with his friend, Szent-Györgyi writes: "now nothing has meaning or value for me. I'm still trying to move on somehow, but I don't know if I'll succeed". The scientist received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1937.
