115. Nansen, Fridtjof (1861-1930), polar explorer.

... Autograph letter in German.

He politely declines the recipient's request to write a foreword to his upcoming book.

The letter – in addition to the fact that the handwriting of the famous polar researcher is sensational in itself – is essential in Hungary because the person of the addressee is outstanding in several ways. Georgina Almásy's father is the renowned Asia researcher, György Almásy, and her brother, László is the adventurous Africa researcher, whose name is still widely known around the world due to the movie "The English Patient". The volume mentioned in the letter was finally published in 1934 in German under the title "Kurgan". Together with her husband, Antal Gyömörey, Georgina took an active social role as a staunchly anti-Nazi, conservative Catholic. The Norwegian polymath received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922.
