... Autograph signed armorial charter in Latin.

Miklós Visznyey and his wife Ilona Akszer were granted nobility. Besides the decorative coat of arms, the charter features an exceptionally beautiful intitulatio in gold, red, and blue. An inscription on the inner edge of the plica addressed to the king records that Miklós Visznyey was recommended for this distinction by József and Ferenc Esterházy. On the outer side of the plica appears the promulgation clause of Pozsony County dated 5 December.

The standard genealogical literature contains little information on the family, though research is complicated by the many variants of the surname’s spelling (Visznyey in the draft and original charter; Wiszney and Viszney in the Royal Registers). The standard reference works mention the family only on the basis of the copy preserved in the Royal Registers (according to information kindly provided by the National Archives of Hungary).

Single parchment leaf with hanging wax seal preserved in wooden case. Countersigned by Count Miklós Illésházy, chancellor, and László Hunyady, secretary of the chancellery. An unusually well-preserved example, almost flawless apart from a few minor stains.

Dated: Vienna, 16 April 1716.
