About The Event

OUR ITEMS

By selecting the 200 items that will go under the hammer at our auction, we tried to create a worthy memory of the Petőfi bicentenary. The most valuable piece of the event - also the last lot of our auction - is the manuscript of a poem by the poet, which was recorded in the memory book of a lady from Debrecen (Józsefné Kovács, ...), but in addition to this, we dedicate an entire chapter to his life and work. In addition to several of his first-edition works, interested parties can also bid on two copies of the National Anthem published in 1848, as well as several other rarities from the 1848-49 revolution and war of independence. We have not forgotten the contemporary Imre Madách, who was also born 200 years ago. Among our literary rarities there is also a signed, autographed, complete chapter from Frigyes Karinthy's "Teacher please", and a Tagore volume with Attila József's handwritten student name. The greats of our history are also represented: in addition to beautifully decorated Transylvanian coats of arms, the collections can also be enriched with the letters of count István Széchenyi and ....... The edition of book curiosities can be highlighted. Several rare medical history works are included in our catalog. Semmelweis? Among the now indispensable special recommendations .................................... .......... gift lines are the most exciting. Monumental maps?

As usual, the auction will be held in the Festetics Palace, and the items will be on view in our shop at 1052 Budapest, Vitkovics Mihaly utca 12, between May 22 and June 1 2023, on weekdays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (CEST). Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need additional photos of the lots to help you decide. We also accept absentee bids and phone bid applications via email.
