8. András Dóczy of Nagylucse (1586–1620), captain-general of Szatmár.

... Autograph signed wedding invitation in Latin addressed to the seven Lower Hungarian mining towns.
He joyfully informs the recipients that he is to marry the daughter of Ferenc Paczoth of Bök and Anna Judit Balassi of Gyarmat at the castle manor of Tárkány in Zemplén County (today Nagytárkány). He requests that the towns of Besztercebánya, Körmöcbánya, Selmecbánya, Bakabánya, Bélabánya, Libetbánya, and Újbánya send their representatives to the distinguished occasion.
Dóczy began his career in the service of Archduke Matthias. From 1603 he served as lord lieutenant of Bars County. He fought against Bocskai, held the title of royal councillor from 1606, and from 1608 served as royal cup-bearer. In 1609 he obtained the captain-generalcy of Szatmár, which he retained until 1618. At that time he was also appointed captain-general of Upper Hungary, one of the most important military offices in Royal Hungary. At the end of August 1619 he reached an agreement with György Rákóczi, commander of the Transylvanian army marching to assist the Czechs, concerning the peaceful surrender of Kassa. Rákóczi subsequently broke this agreement in bad faith. Contrary to his promises, the hajdú troops plundered the Catholic inhabitants of the city and killed many of them, including the three Martyrs of Kassa. Dóczy himself was arrested and sent to Transylvania, where he died in the prison of Fogaras Castle in 1620 (according to some sources in 1621).
