487. Kurtze Historische Nachricht von der Königlichen Hungarischen Cron.
Information sheet about the Hungarian Holy Crown. Copper engraving with the Crown above, beneath it Pozsony Castle and the town, with a six-horse carriage in the foreground. The coats of arms of the country and the city can be seen in the upper corners. Below the image is a long, two-column German-language description of the history of the crown. The opening lines describe how there is no other nation on Earth that holds its crown in such high esteem as the Hungarians. The text concludes with the accession of the Habsburg dynasty to the throne. The image is based on the title page of Péter Révay's work De Sacrae Coronae Regni Hungariae (Vienna, 1652). Based on its characteristics, we believe it was produced in the early 18th century, presumably in a German workshop.
Dimensions: 380×300 mm (image), 530×355 mm (sheet).
