The Reformed sermon collection was based on English Puritan pastor Daniel Dyke's work "The Mystery of Self-Deceiving...," which was first published in 1614. István Nánási Lovász, who moved to Nagybánya after attending the Reformed college in Debrecen, wrote our piece after significantly revising and expanding it, using other works as well. He was rector there and, with the support of the city, continued his education at universities in the Low Countries. Upon his return, he served as a pastor in Máramarossziget, Huszt, and Nagybánya. Although he published numerous works in Latin abroad, only this one appeared at home. Very rare; no auction appearances traced.
Slightly worn and damaged, blindstamped, contemporary leather.
