The author travelled through one of the most beautiful regions of historic Hungary, the valley of the river Vág, from Liptóújvár to its estuary. Besides describing the landscape, he presents the history, ethnographic and economic conditions of the settlements, illustrated with the works of the Viennese professor Fischer. Due to its great success, a revised and expanded edition with 16 lithographs was published in 1844. Unlike the second edition, this first edition is extremely rare. The peculiarity of the present copy lies in its unusually, yet beautifully, hand-coloured aquatints.
