... Anni M.DCC.IX. scrutinium et cura.
Cibinii, 1709. Excudit Michael Heltzdörfer. (12)+120+(1)p.
The plague epidemic of 1709 was among the most devastating in Hungary, wreaking havoc in Royal Hungary as well as in Transylvania. The town of Segesvár suffered particularly heavy losses. Köleséri, a theologian and doctor of medicine, worked as inspector of the Transylvanian mines. He published several medical works. István Weszprémi wrote in his Succincta medicorum... (1744): “It is well known that Köleséri’s books are exceedingly rare, since he intended them to be issued only in a few copies, lest their abundance should devalue them.” Perhaps this is why no auction records could be traced.
Signed, red leather with black spine. The front cover decorated with a leather inlay of a plague doctor, the back with an incised dancing skeleton. In hardpaper case.
Dimensions: 140 × 80 mm.
