238. Az igazság bujdosása historiája.
... Mellyet Az Igazság szeretö, és annak számkivetett állapottyán kesergö Hiveknek kedvekért Magyar versekbe foglalt és világ eleibe botsátott. E. S. J. Ebben az esztendőben.
(Kolozsvár), 1783e. (Ref. Koll. ny.) (22)p.
The identity of the author hiding behind the initials E. S. J. remains unknown. According to the narrative, Truth, wandering the world, finds peaceful refuge in Transylvania, where “Helen of Dacia” shows him the Fairy Garden. He laments that the Hungarians have been crowded with “too many Wallachians,” “Gepid Saxons,” “wretched Gypsies,” and other peoples, leaving little of the land’s original beauty. Petrik (IX 220) describes this edition as without place and ca. 1790, but typographic evidence shows it was printed at the press of the Reformed College of Kolozsvár, which used the same typesetting stock essentially unchanged from the mid-1760s for decades. Other known editions are one from Vác (1783) and another undated, ca. 1800, also without imprint. Although usually dated around 1790, given the theme it seems logical that this Transylvanian-printed edition was the first. No auction records are known; only a single copy is preserved in the National Széchényi Library.
