201. Juhász Gyula: ~ versei

Szeged, 1907. (Dugonics-Ny. Rt.) 77p. The poet’s first published volume. Its true value lies in the remarkable dedicatory lines, addressed to Kálmán Rozsnyay: rnak: Wilde Heródese a próféta vérző fejét adta Salome-nak, a poéta e könyvvel vérző szivét adja neked. Juhász Gyula Szeged, 1907 XI/21.” (To [heart]: Wilde’s Herod gave the prophet’s bleeding head to Salome; the poet gives you his bleeding heart with this book. Gyula Juhász. Szeged, November 21, 1907.) In 1937, Rozsnyay recalled this gift in Napkelet, even publishing the text of the inscription. He noted: „Minden dedikálásnál emblémámat, a szívet rajzolta oda név helyett” (“With every dedication, he drew my emblem, the heart, instead of writing my name”). Thanks to their deep friendship, Rozsnyay became part of the Holnap circle in Nagyvárad.
