117. (Habsburg) Franz Joseph I (1830–1916), Emperor of Austria...

... and King of Hungary. Autograph signed armorial charter in Hungarian.

At the request of Alajos Bozóky, the king confirms the nobility originally granted to the family by Leopold I and authorises the use of the territorial predicate “of Pilismarót”. The recipient was royal councillor and director of the law academy at Várad. The exceptionally beautiful heraldic painting is the work of the distinguished court heraldic artist Ernst Krahl.

3 parchment leaves separated by tissue guards. The title page is surrounded by a magnificently painted and gilt border surmounted by the Hungarian coat of arms with the Holy Crown. The hanging wax seal, preserved in its metal case, remains in perfect condition. Countersigned by Count Aladár Zichy, minister attached to the king’s person. Bound with cords in richly gilt leather, housed in a silk-lined, slightly worn leather case with three clasps. An almost perfectly preserved example.

Dated: Vienna, 10 December 1907.

With:

Typewritten genealogical notes on the family compiled in 1943 by a later descendant, Kálmán Bozóky, retired ministerial councillor. 2 notebooks.
