Pesten, 1817. Trattner János Tamás ny. XII+(3)+16-134p. Two leaves (title page+33-34p.) replaced by copies.
The author was a poet and a reformed priest. His witty rhymes were extremely popular, but his reception among literary people was more controversial. For example, in a letter to Kazinczy, Pál Szemere admits that he liked Kováts' poems when he was younger, but they got into a literary debate (this is also referred to in one of the poems in the volume). Later, János Garay gave him the not very flattering name “rhyme-forger", but Mór Jókai's father liked him very much and owned several of his manuscripts. The writer commemorated him in his various works, including one of his poems in "És mégis mozog a föld".
Contemporary hardpaper. Some leaves restored.
